Finding 01 · Dead-end money pages
A South Devon building firm — 800+ jobs, 20 years trading — had kitchens, bathrooms and extensions each beautifully described… and not one button to enquire. The gallery, their best sales tool, was a dead end too. Homeowners ready to book had to go hunting for a phone number.
What fixing it gets you: an enquiry button at the exact moment someone decides they want their kitchen done.
Finding 02 · The 17-second phone
The same site took 17.5 seconds to load on a phone — measured from Google’s own field data, not a guess. Google calls 2.5 seconds fast. Most homeowners search from the sofa on a mobile; at 17 seconds they’re back on Google before your name appears. Their number wasn’t tappable either.
What fixing it gets you: the phone traffic you already get stops leaving before the page draws.
Finding 03 · Invisible on Google
Every page was missing its title tag, and nothing on the site told Google where the firm worked. For searches like “builders South Devon” or “kitchen fitters Torquay”, they simply didn’t exist. The copy said “we” 47 times and “you” 18 — a site about the firm, not the homeowner.
What fixing it gets you: rank higher on Google for the jobs you actually want, in the towns you actually serve.
